USC Computer Vision

The University of South Carolina's Mechanical Engineering Department is involved in research utilizing optics and computer vision for the measurement of object deformation and shape profile. It has been in this field since 1980 and has made huge strides in the study. Computer vision is used in many engineering fields including solid and fracture mechanics, 2-D and 3-D digital image correlation, contouring and profiling, and stress/strain analysis.
