EMCH 361: Measurements and Instrumentation

Course Description.  Principles of measurement, probability and statistics, analysis of data, and experimental planning. Measurement of parameters in mechanical engineering systems.  (Prereq: ELCT 221, STAT 509, PHYS 212. Coreq: EMCH 260)

Course Objectives. Students will:
  • Design and conduct experiments.
  • Explain the operating principles of common instrumentation.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental results.
  • Apply statistical methods for experimental uncertainties.
  • Organize and write laboratory reports.
  • Organize and give an oral presentation.
