Shipping
Expensive Equipment
1. Contact Mr. Hann
at USC Risk
Management (7-2828)
and (a) notify him
that you wish to
ship an item that
is expensive and is
not fully covered by
the shipper and
(b) verify with him
that USC has
adequate funds in
the Risk Account to
provide insurance
for the item(s).
2. Prior to shipping
the item, send Mr.
Hann an email (hann@gwm.sc.edu) with
the following
information;
(a) USC Property
Number and/or
Product Serial
Number for the
item(s)
(b) Names of items
being shipped (e.g.
Phantom V7.1 Camera
in my case)
(c) Brief
description for
each item (e.g.,
high speed direct
digital camera with
extended memory)
(d) Estimated cost
for each item being
shipped
(e) Shipment date
and estimated time
for item during
transit. This is an
essential part, as
the item is only
insured by USC
during the period
specified. So, be
sure and
substantially
overestimate
shipping time.
3. Mr. Hann will
document the request
and ensure that a
portion of the Risk
Management funds are
set aside for
the number of
transit days
specified in your
email.
4. If unforseen loss
occurs, notify Mr.
Hann and
provide whatever
documentation is
available from the
shipper to show that
loss occurred
and just how much
was not covered by
the shipper.
5. Mr. Hann will
then document loss.
After completing
process, funds will
be provided from the
set-aside to help
purchase replacement
components.
If you have
additional
questions, please do
not hesitate to
contact Mr. Hann via
email (hann@gwm.sc.edu) or
phone (7-2828) for
clarification.
