Transfer Student InformationThese guidelines are intended for those who transfer to the Mechanical Engineering Program from a different USC department or from a different university. Please consult with the Mechanical Engineering Student Services Office (803-777-9549) for any updated information TRANSFERRING FROM A DIFFERENT USC DEPARTMENTFreshman Elective. Mechanical Engineering majors should select either UNIV 101E or ENGR 101 as their Freshman Elective. However, the College of Engineering and Information Technology's Office of Student Services has the authority to substitute one of the following courses for the Freshman Elective, if the student is transferring to Mechanical Engineering from another degree program at the University of South Carolina.
Other Courses. The acceptance of other courses as equivalent to EMCH course requirements is done on a case-by-case basis by petition only. Help on transferring a USC course to the ME degree program is on the Petitions Page.TRANSFERRING CREDITS FROM A TECHNICAL SCHOOL TRANSFERRING FROM A DIFFERENT UNIVERSITY Transfer credits for all courses from other Universities are officially assigned by the Registrar's Office. Their general rules are here. The process begins by your application to USC. The USC Admissions Office loads your old transcripts into the computer system. This information is then sent to the College of Engineering, where Student Services establishes course equivalencies. Student Services routinely transfers credits for Lower Division courses such as Calculus, Physics, English, etc. To obtain transfer credit for an EMCH course, Student Services may ask you to petition the Mechanical Engineering's Undergraduate Committee. Prior to petitioning this committee, you should ensure that:
