ACADEMIC
ADVISOR?
Advisors
can be found
under the
Academics
Tab using
the Check
Registration
eligibility
button on
VIP.
HOW DO I
GET ADVISED
EACH
SEMESTER?
Entering
students are
advised by
the College
of
Engineering's
Student
Services in
Swearingen.
Continuing
students are
assigned an
advisor from
the
Mechanical
Engineering
faculty.
Your advisor
can help you
with
scheduling
courses,
selecting
electives,
and career
planning.
You meet
with your
advisor
during the
pre-registration
period every
semester.
The
advisement
procedure
should
follow these
steps:
A.
Select your
classes.
1. Print
out a copy
of the
curriculum
by semester
form or
prerequisite
flow chart,
and on it
indicate the
courses you
have
completed or
will
complete by
the end of
the semester
(we suggest
you retain
this
printout and
simply
update it
each
semester).

2.
Consult the
Registrar's
Course
Listings
and
determine
which
courses you
want to take
next
semester.

3.
Verify that
you have
satisfied
all
prerequisites.
4. Make
a list of
the courses
you want to
take, and
list of
questions
and/or
discussion
items for
your
advisor.
B. Meet with
your
advisor.
1.
Schedule
an
appointment.
An
appointment
list should
be posted on
your
advisor's
door.
2. Meet
your advisor
at the
scheduled
time.
Please bring
your copy of
the
curriculum
by semester
form or
prerequisite
flowchart.
Your advisor
will have
your
official
"Advisement
Form."
3.
Complete the
Advisement
Form and get
your
advisor's
signature.
C. Submit
the
completed
Advisement
Form to
Engineering
Student
Services in
Swearingen.
